What we’ll publish:
We want practical, tested, first-person writing about tech and AI.
If you built something, broke something, or ran a real experiment, that’s the kind of story that works here.
Good fits:
- “I tested X for Y days” type breakdowns
- Honest build logs, including the parts that failed
- Technical deep dives with real detail, not surface-level summaries
- Tool comparisons based on actual usage, not press releases rewritten
- Contrarian takes, as long as you can back them up
Not a fit:
- Generic AI listicles
- Anything that reads like it was spun from someone else’s article
- Pure opinion pieces with no evidence or specifics
- Plagiarized or lightly reworded content from other publications
Only Drafts, please.
Please note that anyone who is in the Medium Partner Program will be prioritized.
Format
- Minimum length: 3 minute read
- Write in first person. Say what you did, not what “one might do”
- No filler words. Skip “delve,” “pivotal,” “in today’s fast-paced world,” and similar
- No/few em dashes
- Use headers to break up sections, especially for anything over 5 minutes
- Code blocks for code, not screenshots of code, so you are actually helping.
- Add your own images or diagrams where they help. At least one photo needs to be there in every article (See: Unsplash)
Publishing limits
We will publish a maximum of 10 articles a day.
(This is as per the new editor program where we will need to ensure we do not cross 300 stories a month)
Submissions are reviewed in the order they come in, and quality is the bar, not speed.
If the queue is full on a given day, your piece rolls to the next.
This also means we’re selective.
A submission getting held back or declined isn’t personal, it usually means the piece needs another pass on specificity, structure, or evidence.
How review works
- Submit your draft through Medium’s submission flow
- We review for fit, format, and quality
- Approved pieces get published, typically within a few days depending on queue volume
- If something needs work, we’ll tell you what, so you can revise and resubmit
- If you don’t hear back for a week, your story isn’t selected.
Before you submit
Ask yourself:
- Did I actually do the thing I’m writing about?
- Would I read this if someone else wrote it?
- Have I cut every sentence that doesn’t add information?
If yes to all three, submit away.
