After years of Doomscrolling through the shitty Instagram content (Zuck, don’t get bots and report me, please), I think I have found another platform to replace my hunger for content.
Look, in straight and simple words, I can try to be cool and say:
Instagram is all about identity and presentation, while Medium is all about ideas and exploration.
But the reality is —
Medium is also about identity and presentation, and that is why it works (at least for me)
I am not saying your thirst for validation ends if you start using Medium, and quit Instagram.
But comparing your life to a polished photo grid of a celebrity or even your long-lost bestie who is privileged af doesn't make sense. At least now, you are comparing yourself with someone full of ideas. Trust me, this eventually helps you think, learn, and grow.
Algorithms are everywhere. Be it any platform. I am not defending any.
But what algorithms do you prefer? The one that makes you read and make you know more and more about perspectives, stories, and insights or the one that always somehow gets a hot person in your feed even though you want your feed to be aesthetic and clean?
When I made this switch two weeks ago, magic happened. I wasn’t just reading about people’s failures, journeys, breakthroughs, and perspectives, I was also realizing how privileged I was!
Probably more than the people I saw on Instagram. And I felt smarter too (Subjective opinion, but who cares?)
I’ll give you a reason — Because I wasn’t getting under eye fillers and investing that money in bitcoins.
Conclusion:
It’s about time you and I choose a space where our digital time feeds not only our egos but also our intellect.
In case we are meeting for the first time, come over here and give me a follow, it’ll be worth the roller coaster of articles that are gonna come up in the next few weeks.
