Last winter, when my ex and I broke up, I had a decision to make. The first thing that came to mind was to just cry it all out. But within a minute, I stopped myself. What good would that do? Besides, crying was probably the exact reaction she’d expect, maybe even hope for. And I wasn’t about to give her that satisfaction.

As I sat there with a mess of emotions, an unexpected idea hit me: why not record myself, pour it all out on camera, and make a YouTube video? But then I remembered — I’m not exactly the type to put my heartbreak on blast.

A few months later, I would’ve cringed at the thought of public vulnerability.

And let’s be real, I wasn’t as shameless then as I am now, putting my feelings out here for everyone to read.

But I did the next best thing: I started writing.

I poured every ounce of heartbreak, hope, regret, and realization into an article. No holding back.

The words kept flowing and before I knew it, the article had grown into a novel-sized exploration of my thoughts.

Are you going to be angry because my title is clickbaity?

Hehe, no it’s not.

I have broken down the novel down into 50 separate articles.

Little bite-sized nuggets of my journey, each one exploring different sides of heartbreak, healing, and self-discovery.

And, as a cherry on top, yesterday one of those articles earned me $75 — proof that sometimes heartbreak pays.

Don’t worry, you’ll get to read bits and parts of the novel over here on Medium very soon.

In case we are meeting for the first time, come over here, it’ll be worth the roller coaster of articles that are gonna come up in the next few weeks.
