No Fancy Gear or Big Numbers!
I wish I knew this before but creating content on multiple platforms can be a game changer.
And you need not be a pro at it (I know videos take much more effort compared to write-ups — no secret :))
This is my story of how a single YouTube video helped me earn over $10 on Medium by driving traffic to my article.
I know, I know.
$10 isn’t much for you. But I am a newbie.
Can you let me get away with that?
Or maybe, It isn’t just about making money — it is about leveraging two platforms and understand what truly resonates with my audience?
I think I got away with this one xD
The Idea:
It all started with my Medium article, “How to Add Taxpayer Information for Medium’s Partner Program to Make Money in India”.
Writing this piece came from a genuine struggle I faced while navigating the taxpayer information.
I figured that if I had difficulty, others likely did too.
The article didn’t do well initially, but I knew it had the potential to reach a broader audience.
That’s when the idea struck me: why not create a YouTube video because most people run towards a video on the same?
And video content often garners attention faster,
Visual formats for the viewers are always easyyyyyyy.
The goal was to reach people actively looking for solutions to this problem.
The Results:
It’s been three weeks now.
While this might seem modest, I noticed a spike in my Medium stats at the same time. My article views were climbing, and the “Referrers” section showed that a significant portion of the traffic came from YouTube.
- YouTube Views: 85
- Medium Reads from YouTube: 64
- Earnings on Medium: $10.13
What’s Next?
This small success has inspired me to continue experimenting.
I’m brainstorming other Medium articles that can be transformed into videos.
For instance, guides on Medium Partner Program earnings, niche selection, or writing tips could perform well.
I’m also exploring better video production tools to enhance quality.
